Yet another positive weekend for Phoenix Sports Club as important victories were obtained in the 3 main sports. Victories were recorded by our teams in Basketball, Handball and Volleyball and in particular games the 3 points were very important for our silverware hopes. In Basketball, our Men Senior Basketball team, Phoenix The Chef Bistro, recorded the 5th consecutive win against Depiro. This victory keeps our team running for the main titles this year and are now joint on second spot of the table. In the U/10 tournament, our young boys also obtained important victories which give morale to our young team and highlights the good work being done by our coaches in this category.
In Handball, the highlight of the weekend was the derby between our two 2nd Division teams. In a good game, Swieqi Phoenix Hotset managed to comfortably take the points with a comfortable 12 goal margin. The younger team showed many promising characteristics and have made better use of their dynamic style of handball. This augurs well for Swieqi teams as the Hotset team has an incredible young mean age and these players have a nice future ahead of them in the beautiful sport of Handball.
The same thing can be said for our young volleyball teams, who managed to win both games in two different categories over the weekend. Both our U/14 and our U/16 teams managed to earn important points leaving them at the 2nd place and first place of their respective leagues. Once again the girls have shown great technique and determination and have managed to take 3 important points in their respective games. The girls are making a name for themselves as having also big potential and great prospects for their volleyball career. Big well done again to our coach, Mr. Leonard Zammit Munro who works very hard with these girls to develop both their volleyball and their personal skills.
Well done to the teams who have managed to make a good name for our club over the weekend and also big well done for the teams finishing their games on the losing side.
