Swieqi Gasan Mamo land first Handball Trophy

Swieqi seal the weekend with MHA Cup victory. Swieqi Gasan Mamo Phoenix started their season on a positive note by claiming the MHA Cup competition in men’s category. Still with a game in hand, Swieqi, who are still unbeaten this season, claimed an important victory over HMS Parthenope to win the second competition, the MHA Cup, following Aloytians Von Taine’s Super Cup accomplishment.

The match against HMS started on a flowing and balanced place. Swieqi took matters in hand and dominated from early staged with a solid and talented performance. HMS tried to fight their way back into the game but Swieqi, led by their newly appointed player coach, Kristjan Olschleger, kept the same standards. Swieqi produced a fine display of handball in the second half and went on to secure the MHA Cup by beating HMS 28 – 21.

This victory wrote history for Swieqi as it was their first official accomplishment since the club’s infancy. Together with La Salle and Aloysians, Swieqi became the third club to win this competition.

The final game of this competition is on Saturday 31st October at 2pm. Come and support the Swieqi team against La Salle Handball Club at 2pm at University Sports Hall.
